Husky Howling – Husky Puppy Video Sounds Like Chewbacca

A Husky puppy in Russia has captured the hearts of dog lovers and Star Wars fans alike when a video of him howling surfaced. In the video, he makes a perfect Chewbacca impression while his siblings try to enjoy naptime.

Chewbacca is a well-loved Star Wars character. He is the most popular Wookiee — an intelligent species of incredibly hairy bipeds – and the Millennium Falcon’s co-pilot and first mate. He communicates using an incomprehensible half-whine, half-grunt sound that the other characters seem to naturally understand. The husky pup in the video, however, gets the sounds right but it doesn’t seem like his siblings can understand what he’s trying to say.

The funny thing about this is that Chewbacca’s character was inspired by an Alaskan Malamute, the Siberian Husky’s much larger lookalike. According to George Lucas, he thought up Chewbacca because of his dog Indiana. In fact, the name Chewbacca supposedly comes from собака (pronounced sobáka) which means “dog” in the Russian language.

According to Husky Problems, howling is innate to Huskies because this is the way they naturally communicate with each other. It could also be a way for them to attempt communicating with you. Or, it could also just mean that they’re just suffering from boredom.

No matter why this Husky puppy is howling, you have to admit that he does a really good Chewbacca.

Apparently, he’s not the only one! It turns out, Chewbacca is popular among Huskies and many pups try to be him. Here are some that get the Wookiee impression down pat!
