We’ve all seen it in the movies or on TV. Mailmen get chased and attacked by dogs on their route and you know that’s absolutely the worst thing about working for the postal service. But as it turns out, plenty of postal service workers actually love dogs! UPS workers have a Facebook page where they share photos of dogs they meet on their routes and it really looks like the dogs absolutely adore them, too!
Sean McCarren, a UPS veteran of 17 years, started the Facebook page in 2013. Since then, UPS drivers nationwide have been sharing photos of their furry acquaintances on the page as well. And while they still encounter quite a few cranky mutts, the friendly ones definitely give them something to look forward to every single day on the job.
According to Buzzfeed News, a UPS spokesperson acknowledged the page and said “It’s a good example of the relationships our employees build with their customers, two- or four-legged.” Apparently, the drivers have a magic weapon to make sure that these furry beasts are always happy to see them: treats! They always keep a box of doggie biscuits on hand and the dogs remember that. Sometimes, the dogs jump right into the truck as they pull up, knowing there are treats in store.
But it’s not always the drivers that bring treats. Sometimes, the pups offer gifts to the drivers as well.
Like these dogs bringing toys…
Or these dogs offering sticks…
Or this one offering what seems to be a giant zucchini…
The cutest thing, though, is when the drivers come and are surprised to meet their UPS colleagues.
Or when the dogs are the packages themselves.
But we all know that not all pets are dogs. Quite often, they’re cats…
And sometimes, they’re just all sorts of other animals. Like goats…
Or pigs, horses, and deer…
Or chickens, turkeys, and peacocks…
Or… bears?
Or whatever these are…
Because the drivers tend to keep the same routes, the dogs become familiar with them. And while biscuits are always good, sometimes all they really want are a cuddle and a scratch.
